VACANCY - SENIOR NAVIGATOR CODE JD-028 (PORT-HARCOURT)





            A private Company in Ikoyi currently needs Chief Navigator CODE JD-028. 

JOB SCOPE:
The Senior Navigator will manage all aspects of the marine seismic navigation system and direct the Navigators accordingly.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

HSSE

  1. Establish, maintain and show commitment to an active Health, Safety, Security and Environment program, remain current on HSSE policies and procedures, ensuring timely accident reporting, analysis and follow up in accordance with company and client procedures.
  2. Promote a positive HSSE culture. Ensure that the personnel and equipment requirements of your team are met. Maintain and manage a personal development plan.
  3. To recommend changes to the HSSE program as required
  4. Ensuring safe work practices.
  5. Reporting all accidents and incidents including; UA, UC, and Near Miss
  6. Completely familiar and compliant with the contents of the BGPM HSSE Management system and policies, including those of the clients. 
  7. Actively promoting safety and environmental awareness.


OPERATIONS
The Chief Navigator is required to fulfill the duties and responsibilities listed below in addition to those of the Shift lead Navigator and Navigator Trainee.

  •  Ensure that the navigation system(s) and ancillary equipment is working at all times.
  • Ensure that the navigation systems and navigation equipment is routinely and accurately calibrated; ensure routine tests are performed and results monitored/reported.
  • Ensure that a comprehensive, weekly report is legibly composed from the daily navigator's log to be sent in to the Party Chief passing on details of vessels requirements for personnel, equipment, supplies, etc.; obtaining assistance for solving navigation/technical problems from shore-based personnel.
  • Ensure that all logs pertaining to daily logs and data shipments are in proper and complete order.
  • Ensure that the navigators conduct their duties in an orderly, efficient, and safe manner. Identify opportunities to improve operational procedures and formally communicate them to the Party Chief.
  • Establish accurate consumption levels of inventory to maintain adequate stock onboard and avoid excess inventory. Maintain and document this inventory and ordering controls. Ensure that commonly used items between departments are not duplicated.
  • Establish a system of planned preventative maintenance for the positioning equipment and vessel.  Implement maintain and document this system.
  • Manage and supervise the personnel in their department under the direction of the Party Chief.  Monitor employee progress Counsel and document required improvements.  Request and organize training as needed. Act as a liaison between departments to ensure correct cross training.  Maintain files documenting the following:  Employee Evaluations, Training, and Cross Training
  • Identify the specific job requirements for each department position. Keep one copy in each employee’s file to be reviewed during evaluation.
  • Ensure the necessary resources, tools, equipment, PPE and an adequate spares complement are available, from the resources allocated for the crew, for the people and tasks under his/her supervision.
  • Implement and update procedural documentation for their department.  Inform department personnel of any changes in these procedures.
  • Hold weekly department meetings to discuss, Safety, Quality, and general topics.  
  • Accuracy and completeness of design data is verified with the PC, QC and Geophysicist.
  • Provide GIS to all related vessels as reference to sail safely and coordinate other survey vessel movement.
  • Arrange navigator manning for the node boat, pinging boat and source boat.


Main jobs listed below

  • Generate ,monitor& receive PO in TM-Master, keep TM-Master up to date;
  • Track the Navigation equipment send in for repair;
  • Update the inventory in TM-Master and always keep the inventory up to date;
  • Provide the assistance to Purchasing if required by the Equipment department;
  • Liaise with the Manufactory Technical support to conduct trouble shooting if needed;
  • Review procedures & JSA base on the review schedule and update the register table accordingly;
  • Develop new safe working procedure& JSA if needed and update the register table accordingly;
  • Participate in the RWP which observer department is involved;
  • Submit department weekly report to Equipment department;
  • Update “Monthly Stock” and “Monitor and Measuring Equipment Monthly Report” punctually;
  • Participated in the critical back deck operations if necessary, such as node recovery & deployment;
  • Hold the toolbox meetings and keep the records;
  • Develop and supervise annual training Plan in accordance with the training matrix;
  • Other jobs arranged by Party Chief;

PROFILE
Qualification
1. BOSIET training ;Familiarization and basic safety training of oil and gas industry ;Security Training ;
2. Minimum 3 year experience as shift leader navigator;
3. Surveying and mapping , GIS, Seismic exploration or computer science and similar;
4.   Good spoken and written English,Good communication skills,Supervisory skills,Basic Computer Skills,Strong personal leadership skills,Proven ability to meet tight deadlines,
Experience More than 5 years field experience

Training
1. Offshore seismic English, Spoken and written English and English communication skills;
2. HSE training courses listed in Training Matrix
3. Management Training courses listed in Training Matrix
4. Senior navigation system training(Gator?Sprint?Reflex) and DGPS, RGPS, acoustic position system and relevant training, Spare parts management system training(TM-master);
5. Radio English and communication skills, Basic Unix system operation, Computer communication and network technology;

Physical Medically fit.
